Oyster Shucking Masterclass with the Oyster Buoys at the Wine Garden Of England Summer Celebration, Saturday 7th June 2025

Ever wanted to master the art of shucking oysters? What about learning whilst surrounded by the majesty of an historic castle and regal grounds? Did you know that oysters have more in common with wine than you think?

During this Masterclass, participants will engage in an 45-minute immersive experience that includes half a dozen oysters. Beyond learning the art of shucking, attendees will gain valuable insights into the process of oyster cultivation and farming from the Oyster Buoys themselves. Chilham Castle is a 17th Century private residence set amongst stunning grounds within walking distance from Chilham railway station. There is a small vineyard, planted by the team at Domaine Evremond, and an opportunity to hear about their plans during a vineyard tour.

All-day ticket holders will be given a Wine Garden of England tasting glass and tote bag, together with a book of tasting vouchers. Each voucher gets you a tasting from one producer, so that you can make your way around all of them, sampling the diversity of the group. Further glasses and bottles can be purchased from the central bar, which is also surrounded by a selection of local food producers. If you buy an all-day ticket, this will allow you access to our after party from 6pm – 9pm where you can enjoy more wine from the bar, choose food from the many food producers, and listen to our live band.
